Hey, remember when I used to post stuff on my blog? I remember that, too.
It’s been an amazing two plus months: the weather has been strange and cold and damp, right up until last week; I met a woman who seemed really into me but whose communication style clashed strongly with mine; a friend I’ve known all my life died of cancer far too young; I’ve started playing D&D again on a regular basis; I’ve finally achieved some sense of security at work, getting a new niche to play in and coming into a new respect for my boss; I ran my second-ever half marathon and came in minutes faster than my first-ever half marathon. Life, and death, and suchlike and whatnot.
And I stopped blogging. Mainly because Blogger went away and left me struggling with the task of finding a replacement blogging platform.
I looked at WordPress for a while, thinking that I needed software I could host myself, on my own server, but in-between all the other changes in my life I never seemed to have the time or energy to sort out what it would take to re-create my old blog in new software.
And then, after breaking up with the woman I’d been spending all my time with, I poked around Tumblr, which I’d been using to document all the crazy things my right wing co-workers say, and discovered that features WordPress offers for a cost (like DNS masking, which lets me keep my bamoon.com address) are, on Tumblr, both a) free, and b) a simple checkbox and form. Dead simple.
The next step is to make this place look more like home. I need to hang a moon around here somewhere, and possibly switch to white text on a black background. If you’re reading these words and that’s what you see, then you’ll know I succeeded. If not, not… or I decided to leave it this way.
I’m out of practice writing stuff, so I can’t say that posts are going to flow and be beautiful right off the bat. But it’s like riding a bicycle, right? I’ll get back into it.
I’m going to be writing about very personal topics relating to my relationships with others and my mental exercise at Lunar Reverse eventually, and my old posts will be found in the archives.
